به گزارش خبرگزاری فرانسه از پورتو پرنس – مرکز هاییتی – براثروقوع زلزله باشدت 7 ریشتر در مقیاس امواج درونی زمین که گفته شده است به مدت یک دقیقه طول کشیده ، خیابان ها مملو از جنازه شده و هزاران نفر نیز ناپدید شده اند.
بنا برمشاهدات خبرنگار خبرگزاری فرانسه ، در مرکز هاییتی بیمارستانها ویران شده ، مدارس تخریب شده از شدت زلزله مملو از کشته ها و قربانیانی است که زیر آوار مانده اند و صدمه دیدگان درحال فرار از ساختمانهای نیمه ویران هستند.
نخست وزیر هاییتی در گفت و گو با سی ان ان گفت ، آمار تلفات این زلزله شدید می تواند افزون بر یک صد هزار نفر باشد و درحال حاضر تلاش های نیروهای امدادگر بین المللی برای تلاش هرچه سریعتر و بیشتر در کوتاه ترین زمان ممکن برای نجات افرادی که هنوز زیر آوار زنده هستند ، متمرکز است.
